Events for Teens

  • Young Adult Summer Reading Program - June 30th through August 8th. Keep track of how many books you've read and how many hours it took for each.  Fill out a form for every book you read and enter it in the prize you want to win. Open to all students grades 6-12.  There will be a pizza party for all the young adult participants on Wednesday, August 13th @ 6:00 pm.
  • Full Throttle Thursdays - Every Thursday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Play Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, or find something in our assortment of board and card games. Grades 4th & up.
  • YA Drama Club -  NEW! We need actors and stage crew for this African folktale skit to be performed 8/8 @ 1:00. Only two rehearsals required. See Mrs. Voelkl for details.
  • Red Cross Babysitting Program -  Tuesday, July 8 @ 9 am - 4 pm.  Learn everything you need to know about being a responsible babysitter. The cost is $40.00.  Grades 5 & up; registration begins 6/24.
  • Tie Dye - Tuesday, July 15 beginning @ 10:00 am, with time slots every 20 minutes. Fun for the whole family. Bring your own white T-shirt; registration begins 7/1.
  • Clay Bugs - Wednesday, July 23 @ 11:00 am. Create a hand molded clay pin. Ages 6th grade & up; registration required and begins 7/9.
  • Fashion Show - Tuesday, July 29 @ 12:00. If you design clothes, make clothes, or just want to show off a look you put together, this is the event for you. Grades 4th & up; registration required and begins 7/15.
  • Iron Chef Cookoff - Tuesday, August 5 @ 11:00 am. Compete in our Iron Chef Competition! We'll provide all the ingredients as you go head to head with other teams. Register as a team of 5 or an individual and get set up with a team. Registration is required and begins 7/29.
  • Summer Reading Pizza Party - Wednesday, 7/13 @ 6:00 pm. If you participated in the summer reading game, come for a pizza party!
Junior Friends - Part of the Friends of the Library group, the Junior Friends consist of teens and young adults in 6th grade and up. This dynamic group of young people help out with programming, fund raising and many other things in the library. Two of the Junior Friends run the Movies for Kids program, and others help out with our book sale, and decorate the library for various occasions.
