Sewer District Maintenance
Should you incur any problems with your sanitary sewers, please refer to the map below, this will indicate where to call for assistance. The sooner you report the problem, the sooner we may be able to stop any further problems.
Town of Ogden Sewer District Emergency Number (585) 298-0424
Gates Chili Ogden Pure Waters Sewer District (585) 760-7600
Village Of Spencerport Sewer District (585) 352-4771
The town highly suggests that all residents have a back-flow preventor valve installed in their lateral line. Most plumbers can install them, and this will help stop sewers from backing up into your homes. In the event that the plumber finds that he has to cut roots from your lateral, please call the town prior to the work being done since this will impact our portion of the system.
To help eliminate future problems with the system, we have a few preventative measures that residents can follow as well as specific problems to report immediately:
DO NOT PUT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS INTO THE SYSTEM:
-
Coffee grounds or noodles
-
Paint, oil, grease, solvents, refinishing agents
-
Toys (marbles, plastic models, etc.)
-
Bones from meat, fish or poultry
-
Disposable Diapers
IMMEDIATELY REPORT THE FOLLOWING:
- Sewage Backed up into your basement
Foul odors in the neighborhood
*TIP....Every year set a date to test your sump pump to make sure it is working properly. (March 1st is a good time) You can do this by pouring water into your crock where your pump sits to make sure it starts up and operates correctly. If the pump does not start up then you know you have a problem and can make arrangements to get it repaired before flooding or water back-up occurs in your home.
